What happens after I submit the volunteer contact form?
After you submit the volunteer contact form, you will receive an email from a staff member on the Volunteer team with more information on how to get connected with your selected volunteer groups.
If I’ve already filled out the volunteer form but want to volunteer for something else, do I have to fill it out again?
You’re welcome to contact the Volunteer team at volunteer@rice.edu or call 713‑348‑4046. We’re happy to help you sign up for any additional volunteer opportunities that interest you.
Who do I contact if my availability changes?
Once you’re connected with your volunteer group, you can let your primary contact know if your availability changes.

Does this page list all volunteer opportunities at Rice University?
This page doesn’t yet include every volunteer opportunity at Rice, but it does highlight a wide range of volunteer roles across campus. Our long‑term goal is for it to become a comprehensive resource that helps volunteers easily find the opportunities that fit them best.
What do I do if I’m not sure how I want to volunteer?
Please reach out to our office, and we’d be happy to set up a time to talk through your interests and help you find volunteer opportunities that feel like the best fit.
What if I’m interested in multiple volunteer opportunities?
We’re happy you’re interested in exploring more than one opportunity. Rice Volunteers are welcome to engage in multiple roles. Simply fill out the volunteer contact form and select all the opportunities that interest you. Someone on our Volunteer team will follow up with next steps to help you get connected.
What volunteer opportunities are there for current Rice students?
These volunteer roles are intended for alumni, parents, faculty and staff, and friends of Rice.They are not intended for current students. Student opportunities may be available through areas such as academic departments, residential colleges, or the Center for Civic Leadership.
Can I volunteer with my child, partner, or family?
Partners, family members, and friends of Rice are welcome to volunteer. To get involved, each person must complete a separate Volunteer Contact Form. Please note that we do not currently offer volunteer opportunities for children under the age of 18.
Do you offer any volunteer opportunities for high school students?
We are excited that high school students are enthusiastic about engaging with Rice University. At this time, however, our volunteer opportunities are designed specifically for alumni, parents, faculty and staff, and friends of the university.
Time Commitment
How long does a volunteer role last?
Volunteer roles vary in length. Some take just a few hours, others span a few days, and some last throughout the year.
Logistics
Where do volunteer activities typically take place?
Volunteer activities take place in a variety of locations. After you complete the Volunteer Contact Form, we will connect you with the appropriate staff member, who can provide more information about the opportunity, including where to meet and any additional logistics.
