I love engaging with students and helping open doors for them. The impact of mentorship and career connections is something I experienced firsthand as a student, and getting to be on the other side of that is incredibly meaningful. I’ve even had the chance to hire Rice undergrads and watching them thrive professionally is one of the most rewarding aspects of staying connected to Rice.
There’s real joy in knowing your involvement makes a difference long after graduation. Being a lifelong Owl is, in my opinion, the best gift that comes with a Rice degree. I’d also add: don’t underestimate how much you’ll gain from volunteering yourself. The students are sharp, curious and working at the cutting edge of their fields. The learning truly goes both ways.
